The current controller from ifm electronic's 'ecomat' series for vehicles and mobile machinery has two independently operating 32-bit PLCs. One of them is certified as a safety controller (SIL2/PL d) with CANopen safety support. In addition, the fast triple-core controllers have a 6 MByte application memory. Both controllers have scalable I/O assignments for standard and safety applications. Safe and non-safe controllers can also communicate with each other. In addition to the diagnostics-capable, multifunctional inputs and outputs, the device is equipped with two Ethernet ports and four CAN interfaces. The CAN interfaces support all important bus protocols (CANopen, CANopen Safety and J1939) as well as transparent and pre-processing data exchange. Codesys programming (version 3.5) enables the control functions to be integrated into the application program. All inputs and outputs can also be configured as safe channels if required. The metal housing also features a mobile-capable and coded central connector.
