3D volume models from computer tomographs provide comprehensive data on the internal and external properties of a component. With the GOM Inspect software, it is possible to import this volume data in all common formats such as *.vgi, *.vgl, *.pcr, *.exv or *.rek into a proven software format and carry out an inspection of the surface. The volume data can simply be dragged and dropped into the software. According to the manufacturer, the automatic conversion of CT voxel data into surface data (STL mesh) speeds up and simplifies work processes. Mono and multi-materials as well as multiple components can be evaluated. Different materials of an object are displayed as separate surface meshes. All surfaces - including internal structures - can thus be used for shape and dimensional analyses or target/actual comparisons. In addition to the volume import, the software also offers an extended shape and position tolerance check (GD&T) as well as a new surface inspection function with the surface defect display.
