Founded in 1990, Aicon specializes in optical and portable non-contact 3D measurement systems for industrial manufacturing. Its product portfolio includes coordinate measuring machines and optical 3D measurement systems designed for production monitoring, quality assurance and control in the manufacturing sector.

"Aicon is an established brand that has development teams with high technical competencies, and its scanner product range is a very good strategic fit for Hexagon," says Ola Rollén, President and CEO of Hexagon, explaining the reasons for the acquisition. "We also see potential to expand Aicon's overall portfolio internationally through Hexagon's global network."

Aicon employs over 140 people worldwide. The company operates subsidiaries in China, Korea, Japan and the United States and is linked to an international network of distribution partners. Turnover in 2015 amounted to around 19 million euros.

Hexagon AB, founded in 1975, employs over 16,000 people in 46 countries and generates net sales of around EUR 3 billion.
