ZVEI invites IT industry to collaborate
With the establishment of the new 'IT in Automation' working group, the ZVEI aims to promote the networking of machines with office processes and expressly invites IT companies to participate.
"Industry 4.0 requires cross-sector collaboration. Only together can we implement the digital transformation in production," says Gunther Koschnick, Managing Director of the Automation Association in the German Electrical and Electronic Manufacturers' Association. "To this end, we have set up the 'IT in Automation' working group within the ZVEI Industry 4.0 Steering Committee," Koschnick continues.
The new committee is intended to provide space for more exchange between information and communication technology (ICT) companies and the electrical industry. The aim is to better understand the respective requirements of Industry 4.0 and to jointly develop solutions.
The ZVEI Steering Committee brings together companies that influence the design of Industry 4.0 from the store floor. Much has been achieved so far: one of the milestones of the ZVEI's work is the Reference Architecture Model Industry 4.0 (RAMI 4.0). Now it is more important than ever to close the gap to the ICT sector, the so-called office floor. To achieve this, ways must be found for close networking and data exchange between machines, devices and office processes.
The focus here is on operational and automation-related IT systems, including Manufacturing Operation Management (MOM) and Manufacturing Execution System (MES), warehouse and maintenance management, quality assurance, production IT and software engineering for Industry 4.0. The aim is to identify and classify the typical functions of these IT systems and classify them in RAMI 4.0.
