The latest version of the Plantpax process control system from Rockwell Automation is designed to help manufacturing companies achieve smarter production with greater safety and productivity. The system offers a more intuitive design and can display contextualized data from machines and systems. By combining the servers in a single machine, applications can be equipped with all the functions of a modern control system. According to the manufacturer, this simplification, which applies equally to virtual and physical machines, reduces engineering effort, the number of licenses and the system's footprint by up to 75%. In addition, the system offers an extended library that supports electrical protection devices and uses both Ethernet/IP and IEC 61850 standards. By networking the electronic functions with the control level, the system-wide integration is expanded and optimized system control is achieved. The system also includes an extended process object library that improves human interaction with the process, for example with regard to handling alarms and exceptional situations. The simplified faceplate design supports more intuitive operation. The library also contains templates for the optimized display of event information with real-time and master data.
