The digital transformation is also in full swing in the mechanical engineering sector. This is the conclusion reached by the VDMA Software and Digitalization Association in its 'IT Report 2018', for which around 100 companies were surveyed on investment projects and IT trend topics.

"The results show that, in addition to a high number of investment projects in connection with the digitalization of processes, trend topics such as IoT platforms and virtual reality in particular have become significantly more important," explains Rainer Glatz, Managing Director VDMA Software and Digitalization.
