Siemens has named twelve resourceful researchers "Inventor of the Year 2018". Their inventions range from new software that revolutionizes the design of factory parts with 3D printing to an ingenious window coating that improves mobile phone reception on trains.

These include a protection device for transformers and a measuring device that transmits the values using laser optics and a modular semiconductor transformer with power electronics.
