Siemens has named twelve resourceful researchers "Inventor of the Year 2018". Their inventions range from new software that revolutionizes the design of factory parts with 3D printing to an ingenious window coating that improves mobile phone reception on trains.

Dr. Jean-Mary Martel (40) knows how to motivate himself again and again over this long distance: The Principal Key Expert at Energy Management in Regensburg runs ultramarathons of up to 100 km and mentally divides the distance into small stages. There were also such milestones in the development of an intelligent fire protection switch for low-voltage devices, which ultimately led to the first, very successful market launch. Martel was honored in the 'Talents' category.
