Managers in Germany earn an average of 3.2% more than in the previous year, and their average salary this year is 122,000 euros. This and the factors that influence salary levels are revealed in a recent study by HR and management consultants Kienbaum.

The majority of managers in Germany receive variable remuneration: while 92% of employees at senior management level receive such a bonus, this figure is 84% at middle management level and three quarters at operational level. The amount of annual variable remuneration at senior management level averages EUR 30,900, which corresponds to around 22% of total salary. Managers at middle management level receive a bonus of EUR 14,500, which is 13% of their total direct remuneration. And at operational level, the variable remuneration component averages 9,200 euros, which corresponds to 11% of total salary.
