Figures for the first quarter of 2019Strong order intake, falling profit at Siemens
Siemens has announced its figures for the first quarter of 2019. While incoming orders set a new record, profits halved. The 'Digital Factory' and 'Process Industries and Drives' divisions recorded some of the strongest sales growth.
The Process Industries and Drives division also made very good progress. The division recorded clear growth in order intake and sales, with double-digit growth in order intake. The strongest contribution to growth came from the mechanical components business, following a weak first quarter in the 2018 financial year; in geographical terms, growth was driven by the reporting regions of Europe, CIS, Africa, Middle East (Europe/GANO) and Asia, Australia - particularly China. At the beginning of the first quarter of the 2019 financial year, the Railway Drives business unit was also transferred from the Process Industries and Drives division to the Mobility division.
