Siemens has closed the 2018 financial year: The company was able to increase its order intake and sales, but profits in the Industrial Business declined. This is attributable to the sluggish business in the Power and Gas Division.

The 'Digital Factory' recorded a strong increase in volume with growth in all businesses, led by the software business with major orders for Mentor. According to Siemens, demand in short-cycle businesses also remains strong despite slowing growth rates. In geographical terms, volumes increased in all reporting regions, including double-digit percentage growth in the USA and China. The profit margin also increased despite negative currency effects.
