Sigmatek is expanding the 'S-Dias' control system with two processor units: The CP 311 and CP 312 CPU modules are equipped with dual-core processors based on EDGE2 technology (2×800 MHz). According to the manufacturer, the two CPUs achieve high efficiency thanks to the integrated zero-voltage safe RAM with a data volume of 256 MByte (DDR3 RAM) and the internal microSD card (512 MByte). In addition to the real-time clock, buffer battery and CAN, a USB host and a USB OTG (On-the-Go) are available across a width of 37.5 mm. In addition, one Ethernet and two Varan interfaces ('CP 311') or two Ethernet and one Varan interface ('CP 312') are integrated. The dual-core CPUs can supply and control up to 64 I/O modules. One processor core handles real-time and cyclic tasks, while the other core runs background and other system tasks as well as the Linux-based operating system. The CPUs are designed for sequencing, visualization and motion tasks. Communication takes place via the Varan real-time Ethernet system with a bus speed of 100 Mbit/s. The individual I/O modules can be accessed within 1.12 µs.
