MathWorks has introduced Release 2016a of Matlab, which includes the 'Matlab Live Editor'. This can write, execute and modify code in a single interactive environment. This speeds up exploratory programming and analysis. Scientists and engineers can now add formatted text, mathematical equations, images and hyperlinks to create an interactive narrative structure that can be shared with others. In addition, the Matlab Live Editor includes the 'App Designer', which provides an improved design environment and an enhanced component set for the user interface to create Matlab apps. It integrates the main tasks of creating an interactive application - the layout of the visual components and the programming of the app behavior. The generated code is object-oriented, making it easier to share data between different elements of the app. The current release also has various new functions in 'Simulink' to speed up model development and simulation.
