Secure, hardened Modbus-to-BACnet gateways
Moxa has introduced a new series of secure, hardened Modbus-to-BACnet protocol gateways for critical energy communications.
Moxa 's MGate 5217 series includes industrial protocol gateways that support Modbus RTU/ASCII/TCP and BACnet/IP protocol conversions, facilitating the integration of industrial devices into an energy management system.
The design of the protocol gateways is based on the IEC 62443 standard to increase connection security. In addition, the gateways are characterized by a robust design that ensures continuous operation under harsh conditions, as well as easy-to-use tools for device configuration and troubleshooting.
Critical energy communication takes place in applications such as data centers. Based on the IEC 62443 standard, the gateways' design supports various security features, including whitelisting, account management, password policies and a secure TLS connection that allows only authorized users and prevents unwanted access.
The gateways feature 2 kV isolation of the serial interface and an extended operating temperature range of -40 to 75 °C.
