Robust data distribution
ifm is launching 6-port switches for all common automation protocols and IIoT applications.
The decentralized modules serve as network nodes between the participants in the field, which are connected directly via M12 connection cables from the 'EVC' product range with 'ecolink' technology. According to the manufacturer, the Ethernet modules are also suitable for difficult environments, as their materials and production processes are identical to those of the 'EVC' connection cables.
The Ethernet switches complement the existing IO-Link master family from ifm. The design, the arrangement of the ports and the standardized M12 connections have been adopted. Thanks to the increased operating temperature and voltage range as well as the high vibration and shock resistance, the switches are also suitable for harsh environmental conditions. In addition, the E20 approval allows them to be used outdoors in vehicles.
The Ethernet modules offer various connection options for the power supply - an M12 A-coded connection on the one hand and an M12 L-coded connection on the other. The latter has daisy-chain functionality to other modules in the product family.
