Product presentationsNews about TSN & OPC UA
OPC UA is now finding its way into new products across the board. But more and more companies are also including the term TSN in their product descriptions. The picture gallery presents some of these innovations.

With the SMARC-sAL28, Kontron is launching a SMARC module with up to five integrated TSN-capable 1 Gbit Ethernet ports directly from the controller. It meets the specifications of IEEE 802.1 TSN and is therefore particularly suitable for Industrial IoT and Industry 4.0 systems based on Ethernet protocol standards. The module has an NXP Dual Cortex A72 LS1028 processor and a 3D GPU in the SMARC short-size form factor. It can be used in industrial temperatures according to category E2 between -40 and +85 °C. Two standard versions will be available: one version has two TSN-capable 1 GBit Ethernet ports that can be used directly by the carrier. The second version has the function that one PCIe port is used as a QSGMII interface and a total of five TSN-capable 1 GBit Ethernet ports are available with the help of a 4-port PHY on the carrier. According to the company, the highly integrated module is currently the most cost-effective solution for implementing TSN-capable IoT gateways. Both versions support up to 4 GByte DDR3L non-ECC or ECC memory down and have a 3D GPU as well as eMMC 5.1 onboard memory between 2 and 64 GByte. A dual-channel LVDS interface for HDMI, DP or eDP displays (as a BOM option) and two PCI Express x1 interfaces are available. There is also one SDIO, four serial, one I2S, two I2C, two SPI, twelve GPIO and one CAN interface. Uboot serves as the boot loader.
