VodafoneIoT services for private customers at a fixed price
The communications group Vodafone networks 60 million devices - so far mostly in the German economy. Now it is expanding its portfolio to include IoT solutions for private customers: With 'V by Vodafone', private items and pets can be easily connected at a fixed price.
With the 'V-Camera' product from Netgear, Vodafone wants to provide owners of vacation homes, motorhomes or campers with easy-to-install surveillance protection. Thanks to its built-in rechargeable battery and LTE modem, the camera works independently of electricity and Wi-Fi for several weeks. If the built-in sensors detect movement, the video recording starts automatically and an alarm message is sent to the smartphone. The recording is stored securely in the Vodafone Cloud and is therefore protected from unauthorized access. If necessary, the owner can use the intercom function to listen in or speak to people near the camera. Further IoT services such as a plug with eCall function for cars are to be added in the coming months.
