With Safety over IO-Link, Balluff provides system manufacturers with an easy-to-integrate safety solution based on IO-Link and Profisafe. The solution is open to the sensor level: Safety components from the provider - such as safety light curtains, safety switches or emergency stop buttons - as well as safety devices from other manufacturers can be connected to the safe I/O module, the yellow 'safety hub', using standard M12 cables. Standard components such as simple binary sensors can also be bundled via the safe I/O module. The I/O module is connected to an IO-Link master and safe communication with the control level takes place via Profisafe/Profinet. Safety-relevant data is transmitted directly to the safe control system via the master using a so-called tunneling process. Safety requirements up to PLe/ SIL3 can be realized. Parameterization is carried out centrally via the programming interface of the control system.
