Imago is launching the EdgeBox edge computing hardware and a dashboard with access to multiple vision systems. The hardware securely and safely controls all components and data exchange from the cloud to the (vision) sensor. Edge computers can manage various cloud services, locally installed programs and individually operating vision components and protect them from external attacks. These developments support the development of new business models via cloud services - for example, the following scenario: a production manager can call up and check the status of all his machines anywhere in the world on his tablet. If an update is required, he can instruct a (vision) expert to carry it out. Once the update has been installed, a simple remote restart is all that is needed to immediately access the latest functions. Sensitive areas nevertheless remain locally shielded on site. The edge computer is the central interface to the outside world. Cloud services can run on it, as the cloud services of large providers are now so advanced that their services can run on local computers and no longer require server farms. Local cloud services can also be combined with other services from the cloud - depending on where sensitive data should and can be processed. All other desired components can then be connected via Ethernet. In terms of security, the 'EdgeBox' offers secure firmware with cryptographic processes and a secure Linux operating system.
