Overhead monorail systems from Harting

Overhead conveyor systems in production lines transport machine parts or car bodies, for example, through individual assembly sections. Worn rollers or damage to the drives can lead to the failure of individual support frames, which inevitably causes the entire production line to jam due to the serial guidance of the overhead conveyor. To prevent failures, Harting offers a solution for digital condition monitoring of the support frames. This detects creeping wear and warns of a potential failure in good time. The system helps to reduce unplanned downtimes of the monorail system; maintenance costs can also be significantly reduced through condition-based maintenance. The condition monitoring solution is designed for retrofitting existing systems. It consists of two highly sensitive sensor boxes and a 'MICA' edge computer, which evaluates the sensor values and sends them to the control system via the integrated WLAN function. The sensors continuously detect vibrations on the impellers, the motor current and the temperature of the drives. If a threshold value is exceeded, the traveling condition monitoring set sends a message to the operating technology via the control system. Affected support frames are specifically taken out of service and serviced. Thanks to the IP65/67 protection rating of the sensor boxes and the 'MICA', the system can be operated in a wide range of environmental conditions. The solution was developed in close cooperation with a car manufacturer and FormsMedia.
