Turning point for plastics and rubber machines
The plastics and rubber machinery industry is currently facing major challenges due to strong negative influencing factors. One of these is the cyclical downturn, which was overdue after ten years of growth. However, this downturn is being exacerbated by the high level of uncertainty currently prevailing in the automotive sector. "Investment is at a standstill here, so to speak," explains Thorsten Kühmann, Managing Director of the trade association. "Companies with close proximity to this sales market are already noticing the slump all the more severely. But the use of plastics is also being increasingly questioned in the packaging sector," adds Kühmann. "This is where the bad image that is currently attached to plastic is having a full impact."
