Sieb & Meyer has added two device versions with DC voltage supply to its existing product range of SD2M multilevel-based drive amplifiers. With a supply voltage of 750 V(DC), the two devices have a power rating of 183 kVA and 367 kVA respectively. Thanks to the DC power supply, it is also possible to operate the drive amplifier with a regenerative power supply unit. This means that the benefits of 3-level technology can also be used in applications where the process involves repeated braking operation - such as in the field of machine tools and test benches.SD2 drive amplifiers offer users two new encoderless safety functions that are specially designed for rotating motors without speed sensors. The "Safe Frequency Monitor" (SFM) and "Safe Limited Output Frequency" (SLOF) functions are based on the "Safe Torque Off" (STO) function integrated as standard in drive amplifiers. The SD3 open drive amplifier is available as a standard device with various performance classes. Extensive function libraries for the basic drive and control functions of a modern drive amplifier are available via the development tool provided. Building on this, users can implement functions that cover their core competencies independently on the basis of C/C++ programming and protect their know-how. Support for OPC UA-based communication lays the foundation for Industry 4.0.
