Kunbus has equipped the IIoT Gateway RevPi Connect+ with the 'Raspberry Pi Compute Modules 3+'. Compared to the previous model with 4 Gbyte eMMC memory, the new devices have either 8, 16 or 32 Gbyte eMMC memory. Thanks to its open platform concept, the open source IIoT gateway offers users freedom of design when implementing their IIoT projects: Housed in a top-hat rail housing, the 'RevPi Connect+' is equipped with two RJ45 Ethernet sockets, two USB ports, a 4-pin RS485 interface, a micro HDMI socket and a micro USB socket. Its two Ethernet interfaces support simultaneous integration into both the automation and IT networks. This allows machine data from the store floor to be transferred directly to the cloud or to a higher-level ERP system, for example. Protocols such as MQTT and OPC UA are available to users for this purpose. Individual applications can be programmed using Node-RED, Python or directly in C. Thanks to its modular design, it is possible to equip the 45 mm wide base device with suitable expansion modules such as IOs, fieldbus gateways and wireless modules. These expansion modules can be connected to the base unit via plug-and-play using a top-mounted connector and configured using a graphical user interface. A freely configurable hardware watchdog monitors the status of the IIoT gateway. A relay output is used so that connected devices or expansion modules can also be monitored by the hardware watchdog.
