With SensyMaster, ABB is presenting a new generation of thermal mass flow meters for measuring gases in Hanover. It replaces the previous SensyFlow series, which was designed using analog technology and has now been on the market for 20 years. The new digital devices are based on the principle of the hot-film anemometer and, according to ABB, are characterized by a short response time and a very large measuring range combined with a simple and robust design. This direct mass measurement does not require any additional pressure or temperature compensation in the measurement and offers a working range of 1 : 150, which starts at almost zero. The very small measuring elements protruding into the gas flow result in only minimal pressure loss and the response time of 0.5 seconds allows dynamic measurement and therefore precise process control. ABB specifies the measuring accuracy as +/- 0.6 % of the measured value.
