According to the supplier, encoder model FSI 900 from Leine & Linde simplifies encoder installation while ensuring that speed, acceleration and end positions remain reliably within safe limits. The encoder is certified to SIL2/PLd category 3, monitors rotary movements and ensures that none of the set limit values are exceeded. Like any other absolute rotary encoder, it sends data to the control system. In addition, the encoder is able to independently comply with the limit values set by the user for functional safety. This means that the functional safety requirements of the Machinery Directive are met - without the need for the system's control unit to be safety-certified.
