With the NB3711, NetModule presents a router that is specially designed for vehicle communication in rail transportation. Like its predecessor NB3710, the device offers robust M12 connections designed for railroad technology as well as certification according to railroad standard EN50155 TX (-40 to +70 °C) and fire protection standard CEN TS 45545. The router enables a high-performance vehicle-to-ground connection by combining up to three LTEs. A selection of communication interfaces allows seamless integration with the on-board electronics. An IBIS interface for direct connection to the digital operations control system in the vehicle is available for passenger information and ticketing systems. Real-time data can be exchanged via the multiple LTE and WiFi connections. With port-based or tagged VLAN, the router separates networks and provides the various applications with dedicated communication paths. Interfaces such as CAN, GSM-R and RS485, together with the standard RS232 and Ethernet connections and digital I/Os, offer a wide range of options for controlling various on-board devices, remote maintenance and condition monitoring. With several LTE modules, simultaneous connections can also be established to several network providers, bringing the Internet directly onto the train.
