"Our jury unanimously selected the Galaxie gearbox from Wittenstein as the winner because it uses the logarithmic spiral - as known in nature in snail shells, for example - a fundamentally new function for gear teeth to offer a new type of high-performance drive system without gears with integrated sensors and networking," said Prof. Wolfgang Wahlster, chairman of the jury and head of the German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence (DFKI).
