Stand-alone machines such as carton erectors are able to perform their function independently and without being connected to a higher-level system, and can therefore be used variably. This requires decentralized automation solutions that enable autonomous control of the machine. Decentralized control applications of this type can be implemented efficiently and conveniently with the modular u-mation hardware and software portfolio from Weidmüller. For the main control of a stand-alone machine, the 'u-remote' fieldbus coupler is replaced by the 'u-control 2000' controller and the controller is combined with the 'u-create studio' engineering software. The Codesys-based software is used to configure and control stand-alone machines on the basis of internationally proven standards. The open Linux architecture enables the installation of individual software modules as well as simple diagnostics and 3D simulation of the machines.
