As the local acquisition, pre-processing or evaluation of process data is becoming increasingly important, Insys icom is also equipping Basic industrial routers from the EBW series with a sandbox. In this secure embedded Linux environment, individual scripts or programs can be programmed and executed independently of the router firmware and configuration. The programming environment has a permanent file system with 50 MByte and provides 100 MByte of memory for user data. Users can deploy the routers for various M2M and IoT applications (edge computing). In addition, the devices extended by the sandbox can be fully integrated into the provider's 'Smart IoT' platform: The flexible, pre-integrated ecosystem for M2M and IoT applications provides all communication elements for the realization of IoT concepts. For 'EBW' routers already in use, the sandbox can be retrofitted with the 'Insys OS 2.12.10' firmware update. Among other things, the current version also supports VLAN tagging for Deutsche Telekom connections.
