The M3-FS autofocus module from SI is a robust ballast module for standard camera boards, in which the desired lens is screwed or glued in. Its aluminum housing with ball bearing guide offers a threefold improvement in tilt error and accuracy. According to the supplier, the autofocus module has dynamic stability to minimize pixel shifts when the camera orientation changes, making it particularly suitable for miniaturized handhelds as well as portable and mobile systems. The maximum lens diameter is M16. The module can be connected to existing electronics via the SPI or I2C interface. High-level commands from the camera processor are used to move the lens and focus the image. The module is placed in front of the image sensor and is also suitable for upgrading the autofocus of an existing camera solution with a fixed lens.
