5 3D sensor systems based on ultrasonic and radar technology from Toposens
© Toposens
The idea behind the Munich-based start-up Toposens, led by Alexander Rudoy, Tobias Bahnemann and Rinaldo Persichini, is 3D sensor systems that work on the basis of ultrasound and radar technology. The 3D ultrasound scanner they have developed captures the structure of people and objects. The scanned objects are recorded in three dimensions in real time - like the echo location of a bat - and then digital position data is output as a point cloud. The sensor developed is much smaller and also significantly cheaper than previously used alternatives with lasers or cameras. The technology is conceivable in vehicles for gesture control in the vehicle interior or in modern parking sensors, for example.
