The Fraunhofer Institute IFAM (Manufacturing Engineering and Applied Materials Research) impressed the jury with a system for milling large components that can be used to upgrade standard industrial robots to mobile CNC milling robots. This solution is characterized by a modular design of the mobile system on a highly rigid mobile platform (AGV) and the integration of technologies to increase accuracy. The mobile and flexible system enables highly productive precision machining and can therefore replace space-consuming gantry systems. A low investment volume and increased productivity can be used primarily in large component production or in industrial mold making.
