Hy-Line Computer Components presents the FC9000 from Silicon Motion, an innovative system-on-a-chip product that connects to the WLAN via Wi-Fi. It is available as a chip and module with peripherals such as antenna connectors. According to the manufacturer, its outstanding features include extremely low power consumption despite being permanently connected to the router, high range thanks to a very sensitive RF input and built-in security functions. This makes the product ideal for applications that have to run on battery power for long periods of time. Depending on the requirements, a battery change may only be necessary after more than a year. A built-in ARM core handles all network protocols, leaving the host processor unburdened. This should qualify the solution for IoT applications - especially in the field of home automation. According to Hy-Line, the FC9000 communicates with almost any peripheral device via a wide range of interfaces. Evaluation boards and software kits are available for development.
