"'Paexo Thumb' is the smallest exoskeleton in the world - with an impressive effect," says Dr. Sönke Rössing, Head of Ottobock Industrials. "Its development is based on the new possibilities of 3D printing and the close collaboration between our biomechanics experts and industrial partners." Ottobock developed and tested 'Paexo Thumb' together with companies from the automotive and household appliance industries. For example, the new aid was used in paint shops and in assembly. "The potential of the 'Paexo Thumb' became clear here: it is a simple yet innovative approach to preventing joint problems in the hand," says Rössing. The wearer automatically adopts an ergonomic hand position during use.
