After studying electrical engineering, Rainer Brehm joined Siemens AG in 1999. He initially worked in product management for automation technology for four years before joining Siemens' internal management consultancy as a project manager in 2004.

After studying electrical engineering, Rainer Brehm joined Siemens AG in 1999. He initially worked in product management for automation technology for four years before moving to Siemens' internal management consultancy as a project manager in 2004. He was subsequently responsible for factory sensors for 3 years.

In 2010, Rainer Brehm became global head of the General Motion Control segment. October 2014 local change to Brazil Sao Paulo Division Head Process Industries & Drives and Power & Gas.

In September 2017, he took over as Head of Automation Products and Systems, Digital Industries.

Since January 2020, Rainer Brehm has been CEO of the Siemens Factory Automation Business Unit, which is based in Nuremberg.
