Kontron has expanded the i.MX8M Mini platform to include the manufacturer-independent IEC 61131-3 automation software Codesys SoftSPS for configuring industrial control systems. Control tasks can be implemented via the hardware-independent development interface. The ARM-based quad-core application processor offers integrated solutions for configuring automation applications, real-time applications and visualization solutions. System-on-Modules, single-board computers, computers on the DIN rail, touch displays, web panels as well as customer-specific boards can be expanded with a single or multi-core Codesys license. In addition to a 4× Arm Cortex-A53 microprocessor with a clock frequency of 1.6 GHz and DDR4 memory technology, the system offers a standard peripheral set with a variety of interfaces. With digital I/Os and serial communication interfaces as well as PWM and two SDIO interfaces, the module is suitable for industrial use.
