Poor posture can lead to serious physical complaints in humans: Muscles harden, shoulders become tense and the spine can become curved. In most cases, however, people do not even notice that they are adopting an unfavorable posture. To counteract this, Berkay Isik (18) and Recep Polat (17) developed a T-shirt with an integrated stretch sensor. If the wearer of the T-shirt adopts an incorrect posture, they feel a vibration alarm, which should prompt them to correct the problematic posture. In a trial with a test subject, the young researchers found that after just ten days, the test subject adopted a healthier posture even without the T-shirt. This had been memorized during the training phase.
