With PA-N, Panasonic has launched a 5 mm narrow electromechanical power relay for industrial applications that meets the IEC (UL) standard for increased insulation requirements for programmable controllers (e.g. input and output modules). This ensures increased insulation between the coil (SELV/PELV) and the output circuit (AC mains voltage). The technical parameters for the insulation properties are defined by constructive clearances and creepage distances of at least 5.29 mm and 5.35 mm, a surge withstand voltage of 6 kV (1.2/50 µs) and a dielectric strength of 3 kV (AC 1 minute) between the coil and load circuit. The relay therefore meets the requirements of IEC 61010-2-201 for reinforced insulation (overvoltage category 2, pollution degree 2, voltage level 250 V L-N).
