Flexible XC300 controller from Eaton
© Eaton Industries

With the XC300, Eaton offers a flexible controller that enables machine and system builders to implement a lean automation concept in combination with the "XN300" I/O system and the "XV300" touch panel. The system's high-performance processor enables cycle times of <1 ms. An integrated OPC server allows standardized data transmission in M2M communication, so that the controller can be seamlessly integrated into automation architectures for Industry 4.0. The Linux-based system is programmed with Codesys 3 and supports interfaces and fieldbus protocols from CANopen, easyNet and Modbus RTU to Ethercat, Modbus TCP and Ethernet/IP through to OPC UA/Scada. The controller enables the operation of three different Ethernet networks with different network addresses, so that individual networks can be set up for cell, machine and Scada communication, for example. Security and performance aspects can be adapted to the network in this way. In addition, the controller has four I/O channels with their own power supply. Integrated web servers support Codesys 3 visualization and device administration. This means that it can be displayed on all HTML5-capable browsers, even on devices such as smartphones or tablets. The control unit is snapped directly onto the top-hat rail.
