With Tosibox, ICO presents a way to access systems remotely, even outside of civilization: Flexible connection options help to establish a secure channel for the remote maintenance of systems even without an available DSL connection - for example for wind turbines and other energy generation plants, which are often difficult to reach for maintenance and monitoring access. According to the manufacturer, Tosibox provides a fully configured VPN system in just five minutes. It consists of two modules: 'Tosibox Key' provides cryptography functions as well as the VPN client software and remains with the technician, who needs it to establish a connection to the system. 'Tosibox Lock' offers interfaces for LAN, WAN, WLAN and USB and is connected at the location of the system to be serviced. Power and a 3G modem connected via USB are sufficient for secure remote access. 'Lock' can either be connected to an existing network as a network client or used as a router for Internet access. Remote access can be restricted to certain network devices or generally permitted for all parts of the system. An app is available for Android, which enables access via smartphone or tablet. If desired, the VPN connection can be set up on OSI layer 2. Protocols and protocol families such as TCP/IP, IP, Modbus, ISO on TCP and Profinet can be used. Optional device servers and gateways can also be used to establish connections via RS232/422/485, Profibus, AS511, MPI and Modbus RTU.
