Siemens is expanding its Sitop PSU8600 power supply system with further basic devices, buffer modules and additional functions. The buffer modules enable bridging times of up to 20 s (at 40 A load current) in the event of power failures. By connecting a fourth expansion module ("CNX8600"), the power supply offers up to 20 outputs. Both the outputs of the basic devices and the expansion modules can be set in an extended voltage range of 5 to 28 V, so that users can save on external power supply units for special voltages. The 40 A basic device is now also available with just one output; there are also two compact 20 A versions in 80 mm width with one output and with four outputs of 5 A each with a width of 100 mm. The integrated web server can be activated via a DIP switch. This allows users to read out operating and diagnostic data via mobile devices such as tablet PCs, smartphones or notebooks, even without a programming device. The two "BUF8600" buffer modules based on high-capacity double-layer capacitors (UltraCaps) enable longer bridging times in the event of power failures. At 24 V and 40 A load current, the 60 mm wide buffer module buffers for 4 s and the 125 mm wide buffer module for up to 10 s. Correspondingly longer buffer times are possible with lower load currents. Up to two buffer modules - also combined - can be integrated into the system network. This enables buffer times of 80 s at 10 A, for example.
