At 5.5%, Germany is currently the country where most companies also use 3D printing in final production, ahead of the UK (5%) and China and Korea (4.7%). However, the consulting firm Ernst & Young assumes that Germany will be overtaken in the next five years if companies in other countries realize their plans - for example in Asia: In China and South Korea, 56% expect to produce end products on 3D printers in the next five years. "German companies must be careful not to let themselves be overtaken by the international competition," warns Müller. "In this country, 3D printing is often still seen as a topic for research and development departments. However, German companies must also face up to competitive pressure and rising production costs. 3D technology can be a cost-effective alternative for them - also in production. This is a key to remaining internationally competitive and innovative."
