This year, the Plagiarius campaign is awarding the so-called 'Hyena Prize' as a special prize: The 'IS 1' motion detector from Steinel in Herzebrock-Clarholz was launched on the market in 2006. Various Chinese manufacturers copy the successful (non-technical) design 1:1, sometimes in the cheapest quality. One of them registered an EU design for his plagiarized product; this was deleted. The 19 plagiarized products are sold in twelve European countries. Some have since been taken off the market due to unfair competition. According to the Plagiarius campaign, the sheer volume of imitations is a challenge.
