The servo controllers of the 'XLV' series for DC motors are compact speed controllers from Sprint Electric with short response times and simple operation for mounting on DIN rails. The series is designed for brushed permanent magnet DC servo motors with rated currents from 4 to 12 A. In addition to the smaller '200 XLV' model, there is now the 400 XLV for motors with rated currents up to 4 A, the 800 XLV for rated currents up to 8 A and the 1200 XLV for rated currents up to 12 A. The dimensions of the four-quadrant speed controller for drive and brake operation in both directions are 60 mm × 120 mm × 105 mm (W×H×D) for the 400 and 800 models and 69 mm wide for the 1200 model. The entire speed controller series is suitable for a power supply of up to 48?V(DC) and can be used for torque control in both current-controlled and speed-controlled operation. For highly dynamic applications, a DC tachogenerator mounted on the shaft is recommended for speed feedback; in less demanding applications, armature voltage feedback can be used. The reference signal can be either bipolar (±10 V) or unipolar (0 to 10 V) for both current-controlled and speed-controlled operation. The motor speed can be controlled in forward and reverse operation. Overload protection for the controller and motor is provided by an adjustable current limiter and a fast-acting current control circuit.
