Cable replacement with radio links from Schildknecht
© Schildknecht

In sensor and measurement technology, replacing cables with radio links is a tried and tested means of optimizing systems. This is easy for sensors that are already wireless by design - but not for wired sensors. This is where a Schildknecht device comes in: Two closely interacting "Dataeagle" modules from the "2730" series form a functional unit. A "Dataeagle X-treme IO 2730" wireless module, designed as an IO module, receives the sensor signal directly on site via cable and forwards it on the output side via radio (Bluetooth LE) to a "Dataeagle compact 2730" wireless module integrated into the controller via fieldbus. This means that sensor manufacturers can offer their devices as "wireless" without having to develop new ones and users can subsequently "decable" installed sensors.
