Faro has announced the launch of a higher resolution version of the Cobalt Array Imager, designed for applications in quality inspection, factory automation and dimensional inspection during manufacturing. The 9-megapixel version of the device is particularly suitable for manufacturers in the automotive, aerospace and aviation industries where fine details and features on stamped, machined or embossed edges and surfaces need to be captured. The previous 5 megapixel version is a solution for users who do not require high-resolution data capture. Both versions feature onboard processing, blue light technology, interchangeable lenses, a wide dynamic range and automatic exposure. Thanks to the onboard processing, multi-imager configurations with an unlimited number of 'Cobalt' sensors are possible. Multi-imager configurations extend the scanning area, ensuring fast and automated inspection of all surfaces of an object, reducing cycle time. Data is simply presented in the form of 'ok/not ok' or as a color map of dimensional deviations.
