The mvBlueGemini smart camera from Matrix Vision enables users without programming expertise and developers without image processing knowledge to implement inspection tasks visually and quickly. The Smart Camera uses the web-based 'mvImpact Configuration Studio' (ICS) software, which can also be accessed simultaneously from different devices such as tablets, smartphones or PCs via the network or, if an access point is available, via WLAN. The intuitive user guidance using wizards and the reduction to essential parameters supports the user and consequently speeds up application development. Tasks can also be trained, with the software selecting the right algorithms and setting the appropriate parameters. An application consists of a series of individual, easy-to-understand tools such as "Capture image", "Find object" or "Read code", which are combined in a tool box. All tools are based on the Halcon image processing library. If a task requires a customer-specific tool, the software can be extended with the customer's own libraries. The Smart Camera with dual-core processor is optimized for ICS. The hardware handles JPEG compression for live image display and debayering and ensures real-time capable I/Os. The small size of the camera, the power consumption of <5 W, the Gigabit Ethernet interface and the IP67 splash-proof housing ensure that the camera can be easily integrated into existing infrastructures.
