A compound eye consists of many hundreds of individual eyes and even gives an insect the ability to react to image scenes from different viewing directions at the same time. Some features of compound eyes can also be used technologically for industrial image processing. For example, the architecture of Xapt's image sensors has its origins here: the company uses 100 digital cameras with low pixel resolution, for example, to analyze an image scene from many viewing directions. According to the company, this also solved the problem of connecting a large number of image sensors to a computer via a single data interface.
