Camera solution for 'hands-free picking'

A camera-based code reading system from Sick literally gives the picking personnel a 'free hand', as the 2D presentation camera is mounted above the picking station and integrated directly into the goods transfer processes.

Barcodes and 2D codes on the packaging label are automatically scanned and identified as soon as goods are moved through the camera's field of vision from the storage container into the picking box. Scanning is performed with immediate feedback. The presentation camera can be pre-configured at the factory or set up by the user using AutoSetup. A parameter backup is integrated. The Sick camera can be integrated into the OR environment at the workstation via plug-and-play. During operation, it behaves like a keyboard and places the read information in the user-configurable output format directly into the mask of an application, whereby the identified article data can be individually filtered, sorted and aggregated.
