Three questions for ...Supply Chain Act - overdue or superfluous?
The planned German Supply Chain Act makes companies more responsible if suppliers violate human rights and environmental standards. We asked the industry associations VDMA, VDW and ZVEI what exactly this means for industry and companies.

Wolfgang Weber joined ZVEI as Chairman of the Management Board on January 1, 2020. Prior to this, he was Vice President Corporate Communications and Government Relations for the Europe, Middle East and Africa region at BASF. He holds a doctorate in chemistry and has worked for the company in various positions of responsibility since 2006, including as head of the Brussels office. He began his career at the German Chemical Industry Association.
Weber sees the electrical industry as a leading sector of digitalization facing important opportunities and challenges. On the occasion of his move to the ZVEI, he said: "Society is facing a profound change: economically, technologically and environmentally. Digitalization and electrification are decisive levers for efficient and effective climate protection across all sectors. The electrical industry is in a key position here, which we as an association will support even more clearly."
